Quick Start Guide

1. Camera Angle (pick one)
• Face-On (DTF): Camera directly in front of the golfer, lens pointed at the belt buckle, perpendicular to the target line.
• Down-the-Line (DTL): Camera directly behind the golfer on the target line, lens pointed at the hands.
Avoid 3/4 angles — they corrupt plane and rotation metrics.
• Down-the-Line (DTL): Camera directly behind the golfer on the target line, lens pointed at the hands.
Avoid 3/4 angles — they corrupt plane and rotation metrics.
2. Distance & Height
• Stand 8–10 ft from the golfer (further for driver).
• Lens at belt height, phone perfectly level (no tilt up or down).
• Use a tripod or prop the phone — handheld shake breaks club tracking.

3. Framing
• Entire body visible — head to feet — with ~1 ft of headroom and ground showing under the ball.
• Hold phone vertically (portrait) for face-on, horizontally (landscape) for down-the-line.
• Ball must be visible at address and through impact.

4. Frame Rate (most important)
• 240 fps Slo-Mo is ideal (iPhone: Camera → Slo-Mo, set to 1080p 240).
• 120 fps is the minimum for accurate club speed.
• 60 fps works but downswing/impact metrics will be lower confidence.
• Avoid 30 fps — the club blurs through impact.

5. Resolution & Format
• 1080p is the sweet spot. 4K works but uploads slowly.
• MP4 / MOV / HEVC all supported.
• Keep clips under ~10 seconds — trim before uploading.

6. Lighting & Background
• Bright, even light — outdoors is best. Indoors needs strong overhead lighting.
• Sun behind the camera, never behind the golfer (backlighting kills pose detection).
• Plain background — avoid other golfers, moving carts, or busy crowds in frame.
• Wear clothes that contrast with the background (no green shirt on a fairway).

7. Recording the Swing
• Start recording 2 seconds before address and stop 2 seconds after follow-through.
• One swing per clip. Multiple swings confuse the phase detector.
• Stay still — don't pan or zoom mid-swing.

8. Before You Upload
• Pick the correct club from the dropdown — metrics are calibrated per club.
• Set your player profile (height/weight) for accurate biomechanics.
• Starting out? Use a 7-iron — it's the baseline all metrics tune against.

Pro tip: Club and ball speed are measured directly from the video by the ArcTracer vision model — no launch monitor required, no manual entry. Higher fps + sharper framing = more accurate numbers.

Best accuracy: Record with your phone's native Slo-mo camera (120-240fps), then upload above.
In-app camera is limited to 60fps by browser restrictions.
